About Us
For more than 10 years, Limited Licence Nelson has helped people across Nelson, Tasman, Marlborough and the West Coast apply for limited licences where not being able to drive would cause extreme hardship to them or undue hardship to others.
That can include loss of employment or self-employment, children not being able to get to school, or a partner not being able to get to medical appointments. If you are searching for help with a limited licence application in Nelson, Richmond, Motueka, Blenheim or nearby, this is the work we do every day.
Local experience matters, especially when timing and paperwork count.
What We Do
Unlike services that leave you to do most of the work, this is run by a lawyer, so your limited licence application and any connected representation can be managed together.
If the charge is straightforward, that representation can often be included at no extra cost.
FAQs
Fees are quoted as a fixed fee based on urgency, complexity, and how important the licence is to your situation. Court filing fees still apply, along with a small AA processing fee when the licence is issued.
If you have been disqualified, you generally need to wait 28 days before applying. If your licence has been suspended because of demerit points, you can apply straight away. Starting early helps because the paperwork and Police negotiations take time.
Initial instructions are taken by phone, then the application, affidavit, draft order, and any supporting material are prepared. Once Police approve the terms, documents are sworn, filed, and served. You then attend Court briefly while the lawyer appears for you.
Once the Court order is issued, you take it to the AA so it can be sent to NZTA for processing. While driving, you need your limited licence, a copy of the Court order, and your log book with you.
You are not automatically licensed again. You need to apply at the AA to reinstate your licence before you can legally drive.
